Letter to the Past Me

”….Her mind ventured back to when she was a little girl around the age of seven. She saw her playing and laughing, and she wanted to whisper a warning to her….but the little girl could not hear her voice…”

Dear Little Me,

You’re an amazing little girl, wise beyond your years, unafraid of the world….unafraid of life. I wish I could tell you that the road ahead will be easy for you, but I can’t. Your quiet nature will single you out. Your wisdom will outcast you. Your talent will intimidate others. Your uniqueness will attract more enemies than it will friends. Little me, I wish that I could tell you that you’ll be strong in every battle. You’ll lose some battles, but you’ll stand stronger with each battle God brings you through. You’ll shed tears you won’t always understand, and life will be hard at times. It will be hard a lot of times. People will misunderstand you. They’ll mistake your patient, humble, caring heart for one that is weak and naive. They will not see you as a fighter. They will not understand your life’s purpose…they simply will not understand you at all. They will guess, and they will guess wrong. Little me, you will feel forgotten at times, and the world will feel like a dark place.

I just want you to know that although life will be nowhere near perfect, you are and will always be amazing! Sometimes you’ll have big faith and at other times, you’ll have that mustard seed of faith; but you’ll always remember that God gave you a purpose, and you must fulfill it. You’ll overcome some pretty tough obstacles. You’ll stand again after being knocked down. You’ll look in the mirror and you’ll say to yourself, “I’m still here. Yesterday did not defeat me. Today is another chance…” and you’ll smile, because you’ll know that you are a strong woman. You’ll know that something great is always about to happen, and life won’t scare you. Enjoy life. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Never allow room for negativity in your spirit, and remember that if doesn’t help you to grow and be better….it’s not worth your time. Smile little girl…the road ahead is an adventure you’re going to want to explore!
